Thanks Wump and Katie. I'm feeling good about this year! (I always start out that way). But I have a tough situation here where I usually hunt on my neighbors property and it is only getting worse as the three boys that live there get older. I'm happy for them to have such a childhood that allows them the roam the woods to play instead of playing in the streets. But it sure plays havoc with trying to pattern deer!
I usually like to hunt evenings but I'm starting to go out more in mornings while they are at school. I haven't been able to get out but once since Ill. because of work constrants.

I haven't been able to get out since getting back from Illinios but it looks like it's going to happen this weekend! Plans are for Sat. evening, Sun evening and Mon morning and evening. Maybe Tues. morning also. But just because I plan this doesn't mean it's gonna happen.

Killdeer, we were about thiiiis close to getting our own woodlot about 14 acres and it could have worked out to where it would have ajoined our current property but the guys grandson talked him out of it. Darn! All the property we have is farm ground with very little that is huntable, especially when my husband keeps cleaning out the fence rows! EEERRR! I try to get him to compromise and just cut the limbs back but he has to take out the trees!

b.glass- make your husband leave you a bit of crops.  My neighbor left a stand of corn because it was too muddy to get it out.  Holy cow-best food plot ever!

Hey katie, we've tried that before, didn't seem to help me. It's hard to get him to remember things like that sometimes but he has remembered a time or two.
Well my weekend was a bust! Hunted while Hubby harvested corn on some rental prop. Saw a doe but not close enough. I had thrown on a camo jacket with pockets stuffed with gloves and mask. I had a bow in the back of the truck and grabbed it while waiting for wagons to fill.
Creeped along a mostly dried up creek bed. I have permission to hunt there but don't much due to the fact that the guys gives everyone who asks permisssion to hunt. We've never seen anyone there while harvesting but we do see tree stands, stools etc. It was cool just being out in the woods again.
That was Sat. night. Sunday night I was in the woods next door. I didn't get out until about 5:30. It had been a rough day dealing with technology so it was really nice to be out in the woods. When it gets too dark to shoot I usually start to pack it in, but I wasn't ready to leave the tranquility. The stars were out and the night time forrest creatures were stirring, when I hear something crossing the creek 50yds to the east. Has to be deer I'm thinking, and it was, I saw the form of two deer walk along the edge of the woods some 25 yds to the south of me. I heard more deer cross the ditch but never saw them.
Monday morning I hunted a fence row where they walk to get to a bedding area. I didn't see anything but nearly froze to death.
Monday night. I sat closer to where the deer would cross the ditch in case they did the same thing as the night before. I didn't see anything until I stood up. The silouette of a deer bounded into the woods.  I think these deer are nocturnal.
Well my husband called to tell me that there is a doe that was hit along the road last night. The traffic is slowed down since school as started for the day. I might go get her. The freezer is low and I hate to see her go to waste.  :)

Hey, guess what I found out! According to the Campfire Philosopher in TBM, Dave Sigurslid, I'm "superior" to all of yous who are constantly killing animals while hunting! (You do know I'm kidding, right?)  :p

Nice looking Footed Arrows in that 3D target! Did you make the shafts?

Tom I believe the only footed arrows I've ever had were from Wildcat Canyon Archery. The man's name is on the tip of my tongue. He's making another dozen for me but his footing resource is limited so it's taking him a while. I will post pics when they get here. I ordered his top of the line arrows this time. The workmanship can't get any better and it's hard to believe they can be any more beautiful. I can hardly wait to see them. They will be fletched with the hunter style feathers that Herb Haines sells. The colors will be grey and crimison red.
