Hello all,

I am looking to add glass to an existing set of limbs to up the poundage.
My question is would you add it to the back or the belly?

It is #28 and I would like closer to 40.
Not sure how thick to go .010 or .015..

Thanks

Kenny if you see this and are still in business or can help on a one time deal pkease pm me.

My vote is belly.  The tension side is stronger to begin with in terms of fiberglass so adding to the belly increases the thickness of the compression side.  I also believe with fiberglass bows most of the force is just under the face of the laminates and the forces don't extend deep into the core, and the center of the core is under neutral forces.

Hey Luis

I'd also say belly is where I'd put it.

I sent a pm too
Stay sharp, Kenny.

As I try to always state Im no expert, I only have a few years experience compared to all the masters on here, but adding another layer on belly would be the place to put it but making it 60-80 thick depending on your starting glass and what you are adding, it seems like it would make them pretty heavy and more sluggish than if you just made new limbs with the proper stack.
I know just enough to be dangerous, but I'm getting more dangerous each day!

I've done it myself a few times and always put it on the back just for simplicity reason.    :dunno: But I used . .030 glass and sanded it down. I think putting thin glass on the belly might end up shearing too easily.    :dunno:
