I currently own a Bear takedown with a B riser.  I am considering purchasing an A riser with a hammer grip for a shorter bow to use hunting from blinds.  Does anyone have experience with the hammer grip, and if so, how do you like it?

I don't have experience with the hammer grip (just own the standard grips in A and B),  but I'l offer my opinion anyway. Might feel OK, if you like a straight grip (and I do on ASLs and 50s style recurves) , but sure ruins the looks of a Bear riser..

Looks good to me with the lower grip and smaller grip.Still looks shapely. Its not straight IMO from what I can see.Lower.

I like lower grips so it appeals to me.It would also match up well with other bows that have lower style grips when going from one to another on your bow rack.Like a lot of 50s style recurves and many longbows with locator  grips that are lower.

If I was to buy one I would personally like that grip on the Bear T.D riser.I do do fine with the more medium grips I have had on the Bear T.D riser in wood risers. But they do very in size since they were handmade and not duplicitous.

Thanks for the input! I had a Bear Super Kodiak from the late 60s or early 70s that had a grip very similar to the hammer grip that I gave to a nephew. From what I have seen and remember, it was thicker than the newer hammer grip I see on Bear's website.  I liked the grip but it did feel different.  I mostly shoot two Herb Meland 3-piece takedowns.  I think the hammer grip would be more similar to shooting a longbow, but I also like to hear the experience and opinions of others to see if there are things I have not considered.
