Quote from: Doug S on February 07, 2026, 07:37:10 PMGreat read...  I was there within 2 weeks after that plane hit the side of the mountain and also was flown out by Talon. I think they told me the passenger was a doctor. The pilot pointed out the crash site. It was a great trip, My first of 11 to Alaska. Small world

Indeed! It is a small world!

With the experience of 11 trips to Alaska, I'm sure you have some stories you could tell! Thanks for sharing that you were also there!. Having flown with the pilot (Bob), I really liked him. He was an easy guy to like.

Being flown by the very young pilot of Talon Air after the crash, the fact he looked to me to be no older than his early 20's...was some cause for concern given my last pilot's fate. It turned out the young pilot was a very good.

I do have some stories, and thankful for them, but had all but forgotten that crash and the effect until your great picture story.
No one I knew could go with me and i went alone to Alaska that first time. Met some great people. Hunted with 2 other single hunters. We made a group...I cut my arm butchering, within a sliver of my artery using a box cutter. Never ever field dressed with one again. I also remember thinking there was a bear behind every bush.
The hunt is the trophy!

I read your whole story days ago - maybe when you completed the post but it's taken me a bit to get back to here to reply. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Those like myself (who have not yet had the opportunity to hunt Alaska, or even out of state yet) can live vicariously through others experiences when they are shared like this! Hopefully you decide to share more.

When someone shares a post like that it makes me smile. I'm happy someone enjoys them.

Like I've said before, I have so many of these stories just sitting on my desk top. I just need to get my photo scrap book and select the pictures. In the format they are currently in on the desk top, the pictures are already embeded, but it doesn't copy over to Tradgang.

Regardless, I will post some more over time. Thanks to everyone who has read this sory and I look forward to placing many more here in the future. Thank you!
