StringTracker User Error. Learn from my mistake.

This past weekend I was hunting from a ground blind when a Grey Fox came loping along and offered me a shot at about 12 yds. He was positioned so that I could shoot through the manufactures hole in the shoot thru screen. I had my Trad Tracker attached and watched as the arrow sped off with the orange string trailing effortlessly behind. The hit looked good, the fox spun and yipped, then flopped down.

I still had about 30 minutes of hunting light left and thought I may still see a hog or deer before dark, so I decided retrieve the fox to the blind. The fox had been motionless for a few minutes, I could see his legs but the remainder of his body was obscured by grass. I cut the Trad Tracker string and exited the blind. Then I heard the "tink tink" of my arrow on rocks and by the time I came around the blind he was gone. 

There was a good sized puddle of blood, no gut material, but no air bubbles. I surmise he was hit in the liver.
The Trad Tracker would have done its job save for my error. Lesson learned, don't cut your string until you recover your animal.

I learned that same lesson last year Wayne on a deer. I shot a deer and thought i made a good shot.  The string went out and stopped so i thought he was dead.  I decided to hunt awhile longer so i took the tradtracker off my bow and laid it outside my blind.  About an hour later my buddy and i got out of the blind.  The first thing i noticed was my tracker was gone.  We had heard some deer snorting earlier in the direction my deer had run so figured he would be dead in that direction.  Long story short, we found his final bed about 100 yards away...dark red blood in a goodly amount.  Never found him and assumed he was liver shot.
