Someone on the big auction site is selling an 80 pound Howard Hill big 5 made by John Shulz.  The interesting thing about it is it's inscribed, made for Louie Armbruster, July 4, 1976. Of course, Louie was also a Hill style longbow maker (Zebra longbows).  I don't know where Louie was in his building career in 1976, but I wonder if he ordered a Shulz bow to perhaps obtain some design/construction tips.  Interesting.

That history would be good to find out.

I wish I could handle that kind of weight... that thing would be a beast at my draw length.
It's gotten to the point where basic common sense, about a lot of things these days, doesn't make a lot of sense to most people.

Exchanged a little info with Nate Steen a short while ago. (Yeah, our Thanksgiving guests are coming over later. He hee.). Anyway, he noted that Louie was already building a lot of bows by then and probably bought the bow (no.14) because it was a newly introduced model and as a tribute to Hill. He also suggested the date could have been added later by John at an archery event they both attended.  Regardless.  Interesting stuff.  Small world.
