It was so fun having my daughter by my side..watching the arrow fly and explosive take off of the Jake! Once we got to the spot where I thought it had been at when the arrow hit..we started looking for the arrow and it was not there that we could see..We looked over the scrub and thick brush falling away into a wet low land and my heart was flipping and flopping..the area was so thick I really started doubting the chances of finding it quickly.. she spotted the first blood that my eyes hadn't picked out! She followed miniscule sprayed blood drops like a hound , and then spotted a bloody feather up in a branch I had missed..finally down on her hands and knees through ever thickening brush and thorny scrub..winding this way and that..then at one point about 40or so yards into the trailing I stood up to straighten my lower back. Glancing forward through the scrub I spotted my white feather fletchings.. Then the Jake..I told her I wanted to give her a high five for the awesome tracking! and she replied what for? I stood there and watched her picking the blood trail a few more feet..then she spotted it! She was so Happy!..was such a great hunt for both of us! I was really impressed with her tracking sense..she had never done it before and it seemed so natural for her..after we were heading out she was right on point with the next step..that its time to be done for the day and get this turkey cut up..there was no thought of how her hunt was over too..just the next logical step..She was so excited about the whole hunt!! We will get out again this coming week..along with her sister.

Hearing you relate this story as your daughter picked up the trail... seemingly  instinctively . Because it was . We are all born natural predators/hunters/gatherers ..it's just being forced into  dormancy .  We just need the right people (like yourself)these days to get our young/future involved...these type stories give me great hope ....Not because of game taken, but because of the Natural exposure ... .

Day's like the one you just described with your daughter tracking shows how one day...one moment can set the stage for a life long Love of the Outdoors..Nature..WildPlaces...as a  participant ....

Take someone Roving.. Fishing...Hunting...trapping...canoeing ..camping..hiking...bird watching..wilderness exploring ....for one of those moments will very likely set the stage for another person  to carry the torch . To care for ..to nurture..to Love the wild and wild places ...for they will forever protect what they have come to care for so deeply........

Congratulations ..On the taking of a Beautiful Turkey !  ...but mostly for a great memory you and your daughter have made!
..........congratulations my friend....keep them involved ..as participants ..... :campfire:

Congrats.

I fixed the pictures for you.

Your pictures flip on you because they are too large a pixel size.

Cell phones take huge size pictures.

You need to go into the phones camera setting and select a smaller size picture.

Thank you so much Roy! Ok I will look at my photo settings and see if I can figure out how to post me smaller on my phone.

Cool.

There are also photo apps that you can resize your photos with.

Paint app comes with windows is an easy one to use.

That is what I used to reduce your pictures.
