These are my hunting knives. The bottom two are my favorites. The one on the right was made by Don Bruton of Pumpkintown SC. Don builds period correct knives, hawks and black powder flintlock rifles. One of his customers wanted an Osage self bow so I built him one. I did everything but the finish. He added his artistic touch to it. In trade he made the knife for me from an old bastard file.
The one on the left was made by Bobby Keller(RIP) from North Wilkesboro NC. Bobby wanted a sinew backed Osage recurve I built so we traded. Bobby gave me the choice of any of his brand new knives. This one was Bobby's personal hunting knife.I wanted the one with his medicine built in.
The knife on the top left was assembled by a friend that was with the Georgia G&F, Larry Speir and my first hunting knife. Larry bought the blade from Atlanta Cutlery and hafted the antler handle to it and gave it to me for Christmas 1978 and helped my wife pick out a TC Hawkins black powder riffle she gave me that year for Christmas, the gun I killed my first 2 deers. Marcia and I were married in March 1978 so this was our first Christmas together.
The knife on the top right was a gift from one of the Twin Oaks members at a Tennessee Classic. I had given him a side quiver I made that he admired and later he gifted me this knife. The blade of this knife was made from an industrial band saw blade.
The top hawk was made from a railroad spike and also made by Bobby Keller. The bottom hawk was made by Dylan Holderman as a trade.
