Big Jim's Dark Timber carbon shafts
« on: March 30, 2025, 09:19:35 AM »
Shout out for Dark Timber shafts, I really like them lots.

The now discontinued Beman/Easton ICS Bowhunter shafts were what I'd been using for decades and awhile back I gave the Dark Timbers a try and was hooked on their performance and durability, and at a lesser cost than the Bowhunters.

Thanks for a great arrow shaft offering, Big Jim!

I tried them on the LTR this year and I liked them, so I bought two dozen, I am a wood arrow guy but I like to tinker with my arrows,

Yep, same for me, woodies are my go-to.  Carbons do have their good place, though.

No dog in the fight...I almost exclusively shoot Easton 2018's...but , If I were to go Carbon , I would very likely be shooting Big Jim's carbon line of arrow shafts....Reasoning ?

I do know Jim does ( and continues to do) a "LOT" of testing of his products. If Jim says they are tough , and worthy of his Name ...they are likely Great shafts at a great price !   :campfire:

Maybe this belongs in the ultimate stumping thread, but I footed some dark timber shafts with aluminum shafting and they are darn near indestructible.

Yep gotta buddy that put me on a couple dozen a few years back and I love em. These were the old stock that the finish didn’t stay on particularly well but I hear the improved ones are pretty durable. They are as tough as the GT I’ve shot all the prior years.

A HOST of people have hit the bales with then on the last 9 LTR hunts we've had.

I think I have a few left but not sure which spine.

I like them for sure.  Might need to get a few of them for night hunting.  He came out with them just after I had set up a dozen with lit nocks and all.

I am very pleased with the dark timbers I shoot. Very tough, I like the looks of them, and overall a very good value.

Thanks for all the info. I was shooting the easton Traditional only's but having some issues with the exteriors peeling back after taking hard hits. Thought Id give the Dark Timbers a try. Great Price, cant wait to get them in.

Can’t remember to take a pic when I get a chance. Pretty basic white reflective wraps 3, 5” white parabolic feathers white nocks and 100 gr brass inserts. One day I need to build some attractive arras

I am getting a dozen custom made for serious business....
These will be cut to my specs, loaded to my specs with lit knocks, fluorescent raps and fluorescent fletch. They will be taken by me to Texas next year to Laredo where I will wreak unrelentless havoc on animals.
