Another Osceola

Back in South Florida chasing turkeys on public land after missing out last year. Was on a nice tom the first 2 days and other hunters messed me up, 2nd time he was inside 50 yards and closing. Nothing day 3, then on the 4th day called in a tom to 10 yards. He came straight in, never engaged the decoys and walked off.

New area on day 5. Had a hen yelp back at 9:30, kept calling. She came by an hour later and I quickly got a couple pics. A couple minutes later I heard something coming and got ready. The tom strutted right in front of me and turned his back, I was able to raise the bow. Drew as he turned broadside, aimed and released at about 5 yards.

Knew the shot was good and he ran 30 yards and was down. Pretty heavy for the swamp, 16.5 lbs, 9 7/8" beard, 1" spurs.

Switched bows this year, it's a 41# double carbon Omega Native drawing to 29" so maybe 43#. 510 grain arrow: 400 spine CX Maxima Hunter with a 50 grain insert and a 150 grain Snuffer doing lots of damage.

Congratulations!!!  Those close shots are a blast, had a jake step out into the trail a 18 feet one season.  He dropped and flopped.
