I dip my arrows in oil based rustoleum. Yes, Sunset Hill quiver. Also, I've gone back to B50 on my bows and I think I'll stay there after alot of experiences with low stretch strings.

Meet Sagittarius. A Ekin reworked by Nate Steen. Throwback to Swinehart black back & white belly. The deep handle is thin and squared and feels great. Quiet and fast compared to my other big five.[attachment=1][attachment=2][attachment=3][attachment=4][attachment=5]

Should have it next week. Northern Mist Sprague. 66" 48@28. I know I am supposed to like string follow, but so far I like back set bows better.

I still expect my Black Widow PTF to be my numero uno, but I do enjoy shooting ASL also!

A little video I made shooting the new bow.

First shooting opportunity outside of the garage.  Looks like 55/60 is the arrow.
Bow is a Northern Mist Sprague 49# @ 28". It is a beauty, the straight grip is perfect at least for my hand.

Northern Mist has many styles. The Sprague and the American are my favorites. The only Hill Style longbow I shoot.
66" Nothern Mist American
68" Miller Split Bamboo
54" Java Man Helms Deep

My new Bivouac Union Jack.  Met with Jim and Georgia last week at their shop and came home with this fantastic shooting bow. Better photos to come in near future

Congrats on the new stick.  That's a great looking bow.   :campfire:

My Bivouac Union Jack longbow and Nate Steen (Sunset Hill) quiver.  Got the quiver today and took it for a stroll.  Beautiful fit and function.  Nate knows his stuff.  The Union Jack and quiver will become good friends by fall.

I may have gone overboard... again.
A Ramer joined the Sprague.  I really like these reverse handles for some reason. They just fit me really well, and I have a lot of arthritis in the base of my thumb and these grips do not irritate my thumbs at all.

The 49@28 Sprague is chocolate brown, and the 55@27 Ramer is that Northern Mist beautiful green.

I have a Hill Jack that should be ready in the next couple weeks - looking forward to it!

No, I definitely have gone overboard on this ASL thing.
44# Shelton
49# Sprague
55# Ramer
I really enjoy shooting the Shelton and the Sprague. The jury is out about the Ramer. I think it is a little too heavy for me right now. But hopefully in time it will become more comfortable.

The one in the tube, well it had to go to a friend. A very nice bow, just not for me.

I do want to learn how to shoot an ASL competently. So here I go. Reading a lot of things, like Nate Steen's Blog. Trying to put what I learn into practice.

I definitely have a long way to go, and maybe a short time to get there (as the old saying goes). But I am all in on this thing, and more importantly, I am enjoying it.

Nice sticks Gary!  As for learning how to shoot an ASL, keep at it and trust the process!  I watch "Hitting 'Em Like Howard Hill" by John Schulz at least once a month and learn something new every time.  Hopefully, with a few more years of practice, I'll be able to hit the broad side of a barn.  It's about the journey though, not the destination.

Got Spin eh? Should be a decent match, as he only beat me by a few runs in our friendly. Wish we could play it at my ground, his H&F negates my strongest players.

MnFn

I seem to like 45# and up. I had a chance to swap my lighter Shelton for one 3-4 pounds heavier. I hope that isn't a mistake down the road.

I did like that Shelton tho. Very nice shooting bow.

I would like to try a Northern Mist Classic. The Shelton I have on the way should be a good one too.

I had a 55# Shelton that I probably should have kept. But it felt a little long for me. It was 68" so I am splitting hairs a bit, but 66" seems about right. And a guy I knew wanted it, so I let it go. But I told him I would probably buy another.
