fiberglass itch!!

How do you guys deal with the itch associated with fiberglass dust?
My dust collector gets the majority of it but there is enough left over to be anoying.
I ordered a shop coat today hoping that this will help.
Only problem is that my shop is not cooled and I know it will be tough to wear during our hot seasons You know Jan- almost summer, Apr- is summer, sept- still summer, Nov- almost fall.

You might try using a coat of baby powder on all expossed skin. We used to do that when harvesting barley.
When I'm sanding glasslimbs I wear gloves and a long sleeve shirt, also a dust mask. I leave the shop for a coffee break when done. The dust is not bad when I'm done with a cup.
I also peel the shirt when done sanding.

Put hair conditioner on the skin effected and then wash off with warm water. The conditioner seems to draw the fibers out of the skin. Using a good barrier cream before you start is a good way to prevent it.

I know that when messing with fiberglass insulation they recommed a womens panty hose to get it off.  Any truth to that.

if you must wear a short sleeve shirt, I would rub some Vaseline over all bareskin.... I used to do that when I work at a Boat building plant. worked great....

I've had good luck washing with cold water after being exposed to fiber glass dust. Used to work in a plant that used blown fiber glass to dampen noise in auto exhaust systems. This was the best I found.

I worked in very hot weather and it was terrible but I always wore long sleves and gloves and duct taped the openings. Always used a resperator but a dust mask would be ok if you can stand them. It is worth being hot and unconfortable for the time your doing the work.Some of the fibers you scratch in your sleep could come off wind up in other places. I'am not sure if your wife would care.

A downdraft table (home made) with a good dust collector (1100cfm) works great.  I make alot of bows, so need the better equipment, but it works great.  99%+ of the dust goes in the dust collector.  I always wear short sleeves and have no issues with dust on my arms.  Just another oponion.
