Could put the wave accent and keep it green or I think black or charcoal would work. If you wanted really wild yellowheart with red accents.

Actually Roy it was 3.75  :bigsmyl:  Rather have a good cheeseburger somedays.  :wavey:
Here is a nother piece of harder wood Claro walnut. This one gained a ton of weight and is the first piece of walnut that I have done that did not float after the soak. Vaced about 20 hours and soak for about 12 days.

I saw this while I was checking out some old bow construction methods. It's similar to Stic's Pearson Signature, but it has a capsule filled with liquid Mercury in the handle as a dampener!
Sure miss the good ole' days when nobody was afeard of nothin'.

Well my long road to recovery is about to begin. Surgery is next week and the PT starts the day after. I'm so ready for this to all be behind me. I've got bamboo and elm project that is gonna be first up as soon as I'm able. Until then I'll continue to lurk here in the shadows.

I finished my flaire jigslast week-end. This week I used a scrap piece of walnut to try it out. The block isn’t quite thick enough for a standard riser but I can probably make my son his first glass bow with it.

Glue lines looks ok. Time to get more wood and get my swap bow started

That said, there are stronger woods...

Got my riser cut out and ground to shape today, glued tapers together a d did a couple dry runs. First run, riser needed a few minor tweaks but 2nd go it fit really good. I gotta work on that stupid lil joint glueing butt ends of tapers together. Didnt get em perfectly flat. Tried sanding a d end up with a lil dip that shows up on edge.   NOt horrible. Ut Im not in love with it. Tinkered with it a lil but was going wrong direction. It should be ok a d at worst it will be under leather grip wrap
This build is a curly maple riser with black glass.  very interested to see what it comes in at as far as weight based on the design dimensions.  Even had Kenny scratchin his head a lil bit but we took a good guess and wil go from there. Glue up in the morning.

What's the dead blow hammer for Stic?
Don't think I've seen one in a Bowyers arsenal before :)
