Shelf pad?
« on: October 27, 2019, 10:32:17 AM »
The arrow shelf on my Sky archery recurve is radiated (rounded) not flat. It’s time to replace the current felt pad. Because of the shape should I stick with a flat felt pad or can I use a turkey feather (rounded) pad?

Thank you,

JDG

If the shelf has a slight radius, you should be able to use a feather rest if you want to.  At some point, the radius could be so radical that the feathers begin to pull apart.  I don't know any way of knowing how much is too much without trying one, however.

Remember that you'll have to reset your nock point after you put the feather rest on.

I have a feather rest on this bow and I had to use Barge Cement on each end to keep them down.
With the radius the sticky tape would slowly pull up.
