Most of my hunting has been done with carbons. However, I am wanting to use wood more often. I can't see myself using aluminium again at this stage, though it worked well too.

I wanted to use carbons for the durability but I'm think it will be aluminums this year.
Because of the extra weight and ease of matching arrows.

Wood will be my choice until aluminum and carbon start growing on my land!

Wood is all I shoot out of my self and longbows.
I still use trusty XX75's with a recurve.
Carbon's are just too "modern".

POC mostly, although I have a dozen I made up out of Sitka Spruce that shoot good too - don't smell as good though. Get my shafts from Raven Arrows, Indian Valley, ID - great quality and good people to deal with. Aren't on the web. Have to get them by phone208-256-4341. His unfinished shafts come like they've been polished. Great workmanship.

I hunt with wood and carbon. That wasn't a choice in this poll. I will second Raven's quality. I do like the way Jan grinds turkey feathers too.

Last season was the first I hunted with woodies and I was very pleased!I had penetration issues with carbons the season before but after finding Trad Gang I learned I should have used heavier heads.100 gr. head on carbon just doesn't do it(wheelie mentality). This past week I hand-turned a dozen maple shafts. They straightened nicely and have stayed that way so far;they ought to really thump!!

I'm not sure about the smell of broken cedar, but my bent aluminum smells like irritation to me. :-p

Good question, James. I'm a bit surprised by the results. I've shot wood all my life and will continue to do so. From looking at all the tuning questions about carbons on this site, I had assumed that they had overtaken woodies in popularity.
