Should of listened to the DOC!
« on: November 03, 2018, 06:25:21 AM »
Well I was warned by my Dr. and even Doc here to watch what I eat and be careful what go's in my body and my A1c has been 6.5 but on Oct.31st I had to go see my Dr. for a check up and previous week had blood work done.My number is now 6.7 and she came right out and said "Oh you have diabetes" plain and simple!
She was a new Dr. there and I said you mean "pre diabetic" right? She said "nope " you can have gray hair and shave it,color it or do things to hide it but you still have gray hair(referring to diabete's of coarse).
Well I was warned and now I got to keep those numbers below 7.0 I'm told for many reasons explained and let's just say I now get it .Been poking my fingers and metering my blood sugar and need to make a "BIG" life change now. I have been bummed out since the 31st. and depressed for some reason and what a way to celebrate the day I won victory 19 years ago giving up the beer can. I was able to kick that habit, cigarettes about 21 years ago too but picked up an eating habit that took the place of that.
My meter number this morning with no food was 165 and yesterday was 144 before eating.
Got to cut back so much and drop about 100# and exercise.
Please pray that I get control and keep the numbers down and do as the Dr. and Doc say's so I can be around many years with my three daughters as we watch them grow .
I haven't even bought a hunting license as of yet and have vacation time I need to use and off til Dec. 3 . You would think I would be grabbing my gear and heading to the woods by now but I lost my hunting spot from a deer kill last year that caused a stir with a buck I shot and he tried to claim but DNR was called by him and DNR agreed he was just after the buck and I was Blessed to harvest it. That resulted in folks who live in the area having some sort of meeting and deciding no more hunting in that area.
So I have another fella offering me a spot with him but after that issue it makes me to want to hang up my bows but deep inside I have this "I don't want to give up just yet" sort of thing.
Anyway there are folks here that need prayers for health issues and lost loved ones but if you will can you just throw in a little prayer for God to take control of my life and kick the devil to the curb and out my way?
Thanks to all and prayers to "ALL" here as well!
                                                           God Bless,
                                                                        Keefer's <')))><

Got you covered my friend...

Well, Hoss, We makes our choices then pays the fiddler!

I know you can whip this... dietary control can do MUCH to help...but you have to break the cycle...

Get that $15 book off Amazon, FAT CHANCE by Dr. Lustig... Won't cure the diabetes, but it helps you understand how you got hooked on the bad stuff to make the Food Industry fat wallets and you developed the bad results...

You know the "rest of the story" so I know you can do this! Those 'China Dolls' need pappa there to give them away and pay for their wedding, so get cracking...

Got you covered in prayers.  God will help you, but you have to make the life changing choices, then stick with them...you can do it... you've proven you're strong with your other stuff you beat!

Go for it!  :shaka:

Thanks to everyone and this morning I go to have some sort of test on my blood circulation to my legs to see how good my blood is flowing to feet etc.
As some who have diabetes will probably know sometimes you feel like a bee stung you in the toes or side of legs etc. I have had many years of getting leg cramps that were severe and just last night I had my right leg cramp bad. I told my wife I saw something on a website of a quick remedy and she got on her lap top and said "Mustard" so I hobbled down to the frig and grabbed a bottle and squirt a tea spoon and a half and swallowed it . My stomach was on fire for a few seconds but with in a few minutes I was cramp free. First time I ever tried it and won't be the last . Now I got to go to a fast food window and stock up on mustard meds.to have on hand when out roaming the woods lol. :archer:

Glad the mustard helped, but be careful with the fast food mustard packs... they likely are LOADED with sugar....

You can make your own with dry mustard, bit of water, vinegar and keep the sugar out!

My wife buys me the small bottles of dill  pickle juice that the athelets drink for cramps. Actually you get used to the taste and it is not bad at all.

 spoken like a true Bayou boy...

If'n you'd been raised up in PA German Country, with 7 sweets and 7 sours in every meal, you'd have a taste for Dill pickled anything... One ole boy I know sells Home made horse radish with no hot additives but the carefully grown radish and he uses it to make "horse radish pickles"... that'll light your fire!

But traditionally, it's all cut with sugar, so while Keith is learning to curb that sweet tooth, I'd recommend avoidance.

I swore off anything with Sugar for 2.5 years, thinking I'd have outgrown the desire by then... like any good addiction, one taste of sweet stuff here in TN and "it was all back, again."

Sorry Keith...But, you beat worse so you can beat this too!
