Nice job Andy!! And some shootin too!!

I got to work on TD proto # 3 a bit today, have to glue up the 2nd limb sometime soon.

Made up an airhose that actually is the right length for the TD limb form!  :D

Used my new drilling vise on my drill press, works quite well. Wish my press had a bit more drill distance tho.

Came up with an idea for drilling TD stuff, but will have to see how it works on # 4
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Helped a Buddy glue up his first BBO. Then he put the first coat of tongue oil on his Osage Selfbow. I did z-splices on two pairs of Osage billets and baked a finish on a half dozen woodies.

Andy, you shoot just like I do:) Bow looks sweet too.

I shot a few arrows here at sun up, came back and did the same at sundown. Both times no one else was using the range.

Today, since I was bad all week I went to church.  Then I got home and made 6 bow strings for a guy.

What great weather we had here today! I spent the whole day making sawdust. Filled 2 big garbage bags.  :D
I worked on a pile of maple boards that I'm using to make bread molds for a local bakery, finally got some spray on poly on my plan B bow. It's finished now. Planed some bamboo and got my plan D bow glued up. I also tuned up a turkey call I've been working on and made progress on a carving for a friend.
All in all a good day.

I worked on my first hickory backed Jatoba (HBJ)

It's coming out alright. If I get rained out tomorrow I may be shooting it in.

I finally hooked up with my brother in law and delivered the fly rod I was building him (SURPRISE!!) He really liked it and is looking forward to using it here soon.  Now on to my BBI for the swap.  Hopefully some time will magically materialize over the next couple days so that I can cut some bamboo.

Went wood shopping!  A shelterbelt nearby is going to be cut out for more corn fields.  Went in and cut a few for future bows.  My brother made me get 7 different species...

Walnut
Mulberry
Hackberry
Cedar
Honey locust
Some other locust (I think)
Northern Catalpa

I have worked with mulberry and hackberry but not sure how to handle the others.  For now, the ends are sealed, bark left on, and they are in the shed out of the weather.

It was a long but fun day!
Enjoy the hunt!  - Mitch

Holly crap Kelly, ya sure put some reflex in that bow:)

KellyG

Well Roy it is my first try at it. I use the biggest circle I could find our pizza pan to draw it. Thanks Joe I did lift a splinter I showed sent patb a pic and was told not to worry it was not bad. So I glued it down this AM. I will get more PICs of it up  this evening. I need to do the other side now or have a true hybrid between a long bow and a recurve.

I finished inletting a ramrod entry pipe on a 1740s English fowler I am building, took me two days. Off topic for this site but that is what I did yesterday.

The day before I got to give a friends very interested 12 year grandson old a tour of my bow shop, an orientation on bow making and was able to help him with his first shot out of a traditional bow and a rock lock rifle.

The neat thing was, this kid listened to my minimal instruction and was drilling the bull on his second and subsequent bow and rifle shots. His Granddad sure was proud of him.

Another thing, this kid was a yes sir, no sir kind of kid, very polite and a joy to teach.

Roy from Pa

Good deal Eric with the boy.. ^5 Roy
