Built myself some arras for my bows.  Used safety orange barred and unbarred feathers, and safety orange nocks... That way I can find them when I err in aiming.     first cedar shafts though. They seem to shoot better than the carbon ones. Is there a reason for that, or is my aim just getting better?   :archer2:

DVS, is that the one with the skinny tips I saw when I was there a couple of weeks ago?

I spent the morning prepping and gluing up my plan C bow for the swap. This bows' sister, plan D is waiting it's turn on the form as soon as this one is out. With a bit of care and a bunch of luck I'll have 3 bows to choose from to send to **** **.      :goldtooth:

I finally glued the hickory backing on an osage board for the trade. Things just keep getting in the way...
Cleaned up the two red oak board bows my classes had started before Christmas. We're ready to begin tillering now...
Took about an hour chasing a ring along most of the length of an osage stave.  I had left some sap wood on the back. Even though I sprayed shellac all over the back, the sap wood checked. I had to go down about 3 growth rings to get below the checking.

cleaned off the glue from a repair I made to my trade bow and shaped the handle.  As long as the repair holds I'll be working on the tip overlays this week....Dan

Well after church I cooked dinner and then I roughed out my first longboat form got a long ways to go before I finish it I need to get a thin piece of paneling so I can use it for a guide for my router and Saturday I built a hotbox just need to ge a couple more lamps and wire it up and it'll be done too. Hopefully within the next few months ill be able to start on a longbow

Dustin,

When you make your plywood template, bend a pc of .050 glass or a good metal yardstick around the curves if you have any. This will show bumps and flats that you(I anyway) can't see or feel.

They will show up in a bow limb tho.... Not tellin how I know this......  :D
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Chris and i cleaned up the rest of the bow workshop today and then this evening we glued up a couple of hickory backed Jatoba bows (HBJ) with zebrawood handles.

Then i glued a piece of gemsbok horn on the handle of a bamboo backed osage (BBO) with zebrawood handle and cocabolo overlays. Hopefully I'll get it finished this week.
