Looks awesome! What did you use for a finish?
I can't tell if it's the camera shot or the finish that's making it look gray almost weathered like the fence?

Nice looking bow Ken if you keep this up we will have to see if terry will give you your own forum.
I like that ones profile but I have not seen a bow you have made yet I did not like.

Very nice looking bow, the color is very nice.
Always say what you mean, that way people will know you mean what you say.

Real nice! Ken, can you tell any "secrets" on how you treat your hickory bows?

Like heat treating, forms, seasoning, what type of hickory and such!

This bow has very little string follow, for 62" and the 57# weight.

Thanks, and good shootin!

Super looking self!  Are the limbs trapped to the back side and if they are is that part of the tiller process?

Thanks

thank you all for the nice comments !Frank this is pignut hickory. to answer some of the ??? the back is highly trapped it looks like a high crown stave. i do this after initial cut out and before floor tillering. it is in my opinion (for what its worth)the best way to treat hickory. i do not heat treat my belly although im not against it .

on a side note i just finished an article for PA magazine that i will submit on hickory bows .hopefully it will be something they like and can help

Love the way that stain turned out.  Reminds me of siding on an old barn.  And the tiller looks great too!

I've read a little about the benefits of trapping hickory to the back side of the bow. I'm building my first hickory self. What is the "formula" for trapping to the back side. I'm at 66" 1 3/4" to mid limb with a taper to 1/2 nocks at this point and just starting to reduce for floor tiller.
Thanks

Ken you just keep whipping them out.

Just worked a couple shellbark hickory's myself. I dont like it as well as osage. Different texture and not used to that medium yet!

thanks everyone im glad ya like it , theres something about a simple bow for me

igor with limbs of that dem. i would go in 3/8th inch at the fades and 1/8th inch at tips ,draw some lines and remove down to half your final limb thickness. the part of your back left flat will be 1 inch at the fades by 1/4 inch at the tips . make sure to round off both corners caused by trappin .

Igor

thanks Ken I'm going to try it and I'll let you know how it turns out for me. I appreciate the guidence!
