hide glue/ tung oil compatability

I am working on a sinew backed selfbow and was wondering whether the hide glue I will use to attach the sinew is compatable with subsequent coats of tung oil for water proofing. I assume that hide glue, being water based, will not be dissolved by the tung oil. Does anybody have thoughts on this. If this is a bad way to water-proof a sinew backed bow is there a better way?

P.S. The tung oil is going to be 50% pure tung oil and 50% mineral spirits.

Tung oil is not a very good water proofing in my opinion. I would use Tru-oil, or any of the urathanes.

Tru Oil is what I used on my sinew backed Osage recurve that I just finished. I have used it on all my other self bows as well-it is a nice finish and very waterproof.

Does sinew absorb tru oil well?

I stained the bow all but the back.Put the sinew on.I made sure the sinew and hide glue was totally dry.Then got varfaine in the can sprayed the back.Did this a few times letting it dry each time.After drying good I used wax and a hair dryer on the rest of the bow to water seal it.
 The first few years I varfained all my bows.But just plain wax and a hair dryer works best to water proff bows.Once its heated into the pours it's there for the life of the bow.
 Each time if you wish to rewax your bow it's new all over.
