navahoedon here from huntsville ontario.been archery hunting for 20 plus years just got a new checkmate falcon.got first deer last year only 3 points but a trophy to me. looking to get a checkmate take down soon.good to see lots of tg from ontario.

Robert from Nunavut here. Highly recommend the Checkmate Takedown. A beautiful bow and an incredibly reasonable cost. Suggest you talk to Chad at  www.recurves.com   Chad is a great guy, easy to deal with and very knowledgeable.

I see you are in God's Country. Most of my kin are from just the other side of Algonquin Park. Would love to hunt (turkey) down there someday but not familiar with non-resident hunting laws.

I'm in Lunenburg county Nova Scotia, recent convert to tradbow. Didn't take a deer this year because I don't think I shoot well enough yet. Next year.

Baffin sure would love to see the north some day but exactly what do you have to hunt ? can see bunnies and ptarmigan but are there any caribou or to far north?   herb

There are indeed caribou but currently, in my part of the north, they are a very long way off. A few years ago, they were everywhere.

Around that time, I had very many close encounters with them. I am talking a stone's throw away. At the time, I hunted exclusively with a rifle and had bagged many but seeing them up so close, I started to get other ideas. I was an avid archer in high school (many, many, many years ago -ain't telling!) and it occurred to me: "I can bag one of these babies with a bow", so I took up archery again. Got all outfitted and ready to go. And now I can't get within 10 miles of a caribou.

But I keep trying. I enjoy the hunt: the roving, the stump shooting and just the feeling of being outdoors with a bow and a pack and a bit of grit. So I keep at it.

Oddly enough, I have a strong desire to hunt turkey. It just seems like it would be a real gas.

At the risk of getting too much off topic, I have had it up to my eyeballs with rich celebrity activists who are always trying to tell us how to live our lives (Bono, Suzuki, Gore....). I wish the lot of them would just P*** off and leave the rest of us alone.
