I think I could take them out for excercise at least on a weekly bases...lol

They'd sure enough be in the company of some other good bows but my numbers are wayyyyy down these days.

I just bought this bow.....it was the same weight per draw as my current 69" Sky Trophy...

I think I am feeling a fever coming on......

I have two. A righty and a lefty. I am getting back to that feeling like I have the Noah's Ark of longbows again, just after I gave all of the odd and end bows away, two of my older bows come back to me, still in perfect condition, go figure. the owners went on to their own purchased bows.

Thanks all for your kind comments about "morning sun"

I wrote that last week - I don't do that normally but was inspired by events that started here in the Hill Thread.

About a year ago, while enduring China for the fourth year I logged on to TG after being absent since 2005.

My first impression was that no matter what thread I read through, I always found Mudd there...with his "How cool is this" and, of course..."God Bless".

We both ended up on this thread and have been here for a year or so.  Here is inspiration,  tradition and dreams all blended toghther.  I fell in love with the simple and humble bent stick when I was very young...found it here afresh and will not let her go...

The poem was inspired by a photo of a bow I will soon hold and shoot.  It was a bamboo stave with a dark myrtle block glued at the center point.

Years ago I made a few longbows but the things of life made it impossible to do that again.  I was able to dream a bit and could see a bowyer shaping that stave with great care....driven by a passion for the tradition we all embrace.
.
The "bones" of Morning Sun come from Asia...most likely Zhejiang, Fujian, or Guangdong China where the vast forests of Moso Bamboo have grown for centuries.  Her "soul" was given here, in Western USA by tradition and more importantly, the touch of the "maker, her creator and god"

The little shop and the man the with the hands is in the West...Kimberly, ID. His name is Nate Steen.  It is no mystery: he loves his craft and the tradition that inspires it.

And so you know...and Jeff, you were right.  Morning Sun does rise over Sunset Hill...ain't that too cool?

This is my 1000th post!  I can't think of a better way to spend it than to thank (in advance) a guy who is taking time out of his way-to-busy life to make a bow for me.

Thanks Nate!!

Just heard from Craig, my new ebony handled Cheetah is on it's way to me (in record time once again)! He sent me some teaser pics but I'll wait till it gets here to post my own once I've had a chance to look it over. The wine colored wrap looks great though!!!

This'll be the heaviest bow I've owned to date and I've got some 650 gr arrows that should work just right. Can't wait to hear the 'thump' of them hitting the bull.....

I had a just started a sharing with Tony back when he was posting under the handle of "Macatawa", then he disappeared.

I believe we were on the old original Leather Wall at that time.

When Tony showed up here a couple of years back I was excited to get the chance to renew our budding friendship.

I was grateful to have someone I could talk with daily about "our" obsession with the lure and lore of the longbow.

I have been truly blessed to be called his friend.

Both of us are blessed to be getting bows from Nate.

I've said it before but none of this could not have happened with Nate and Spanky Neal.. thank you both from the bottom of my heart.

God bless,Mudd

Tony,

Wow, without words.

You and Mudd, I am sure, are in for one heck of a treat when a stave of bamboo arrives at your home.

The awakening of your morning sun is on the horizon.

There is the width of a saw blade cut between our risers.

I think of them as "buddy bows".

Nate said they would be built together.. finished together and shipped at the same time.

Tony and I will via the phone open them together.

Are you two sure you wouldn't be happier going to a mall somewhere and buying a machine-manufactured, shrink-wrapped,  plastic and aluminum super-bow that you can attach sights drop-away arrow rests and all kinds of other things to so you won't have to practice all year just to be able to shoot well?

Hahaha!!! You betcha!!.....not!!!

Too many working parts would only serve to confuse and confound some one as simple minded as I am.

I don't do well with things that can be adjusted.

I'm lucky to keep my antique wall clock running and all I have to do is remember to wind it every Sunday...lol

It's ok though Rik, I know you are just trying to endear yourself...lol  "Winning!"
