I am getting my first fiberglass longbow next week it is a used savannah 50#s. I draw 27 1/2" with my self bow but maybe slightly more with this bow, so for sake of a number lets assume I will be drawing 28"@50#s. I want to draw and have the back of the broadhead touch my hand so I know I am at full draw, I tend to short draw my selfbow. I would like to stick to 10-11 gr per pound if I can. I like kenetic energy.
Where to start with wood shafts?
Where to start with carbon?
I want to look at both.
Any info on arrow selction would be appreciated.
Thanks

P.S.
I also am using 160gr ace heads, I like the Idea of up front weight.

With that weight point.. and 28.75-29inch arrows (kind of guessing-since I don't know how thick your fingers are) perhaps wood shafts spined 55-60 . Poplar or Cedar will likely get you the total weight you are seeking.

The savannahs are very good performers, if you wnt a 29" wood arrow BOP than you will need at least 65-70# spine on the woodie. The formula for wood is a add 10#s for high performance longbow and than 5#s for very inch over 28"s. I had a Savannah and I drew it 28.5"s and it was 57#s, I shot 29.5" woodie that was 75#-77# spine andthey flew perfect. If ya want to shoot carbons and want plenty of weight, go with a 29" Heritage 150 with 300 grains of point weight. Shawn

Shawn,
I dont have to shoot the 160gr heads, it is just what i shoot with the self bow.
I am open to shoot what ever works best.
