Today is a rare cold day in SW Louisiana.  My 6 yr. old son Tyler recieved a nice little Black Rhino bow from Santa and has barely put it down since.  I decided to take some pics. of him as he was shooting today and share with you guys.  After shooting his last group of arrows, he said, "Dad, I like this bow so much more than that old one I had.  It just way more fun to shoot!" (Before the Rhino he had a old hand me down wheelie bow). I got to thinking about what he said and that pretty much sums up trad. archery for me.  I can't wait till the day he takes his first deer with a bow.

Thanks for listening.

Hunt for you! Dont worry what others will say,if your happy with what you shoot who really cares what anyone else thinks. You will be happier in the long run and hunting will remain the fun way to get meat for your entire life.Enjoy the journey

Great pictures.  Looks like Tyler is well on his way.  I can not wait to read about his first kill.

Congrats to Tyler on the nice bow and nice shootin'.  Thank you to dad for passing on the tradition.

Its not about the weapon used, its about the adventure involved.

Very nice! I just got home from work early and was not in a good mood. Your pics got the smile back on my face. Thanks for sharing!

great going dad.

reminds me when I was about that age I was wondering around the neighborhood when I happened upon a guy  with his son and daughter, both my age, shooting bows. I walked up and he invited me to shoot. Prize was a dime if anyone hit the bulls eye. That was over 45 years ago and I still remember it as if it was yesterday. Still remember the excitement of trying for that dime. None of us won the dime but it sure was fun. Funny how things work out but the guy, his wife and children would be come my surrogate family.

Excellent. Nothing better than a happy kid with a bow.

Thanks guys for all the kind words.  Till this day I still remember when I became hooked on archery.  I was about Tyler's age and an old German gentleman that taught my sister fiddle lessons made me a lemonwood longbow and 6 cedar arrows.  He had no idea the joy he would bring to my life with that simple act of kindness.

Kip: Very sorry to hear your buddie's situation.  Unfortunatley, there are still a few thugs around.
