What are the names of some custom knife makers?  I'd eventually like to get a knife made in the same woods as my bow.  Who does custom woods in their knife handles?  I'm specifically looking for cocobolo and osage in the handle.  Some pics are greatly appreciated as well.  Thanks...Mike

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!

Mike,
I know several makers. In fact I make knives too, but will be glad to pass on any contacts the others, if you prefer. I made the knife in the photo, but I know lots of guys who can do as well. The guys I hang with forge their blades. I hope you find something. Lin Rhea

Rob...only problem I see with your knives (as stated on your sponsor ad) is that you do not do osage  :(

Thanks for the other suggestions guys.  Looking into some of them now.  Keep em coming...Mike

Is that right Rob? You know, we could do something about that  :bigsmyl:

OK, I don't live where osage grows, but I'll donate some of my stash to Rob.  I feel like I have to help a UK redneck out!  Do you have a way to board this stuff or do you want me to cut the stave up for you too?  :D

I have a nice knife from Rob that'll get most any job done.  I also have one from sticshooter that survived some serious torture tests and still shaved hair!  I'm carrying one by tippit on my belt the few times I'm hunting this year.  If you can talk him out of one... and don't get me started on Doug's knives!  Yup, lots of guys around here who can help you out - just take my name off the list; I still haven't made one for ME!  :)

Lin, excellent work, but I'll second what someone said earlier: why do all the knives on your site say "sold" ?!   "[dntthnk]"

Lin, pretty knife!! I mean this as a compliment when I say that looks like a Fisk. I assume it is for sell, so I'll take it.

Kenny,
That particular hunter has about a 4 1/2 inch blade I forged from tool steel, I think 1084. The handle is Sheephorn, which is very popular, and the guard and pins are Stainless. This knife is a drop point, but I sometimes get requests for straight back hunters etc. I sold this one over a year ago. I've used Bodarc. It's a very hard wood, but it will stay with you. I have some nice Cocobolo, but have to very careful with it. I break out in hives if I get too much in my system.
                  Thanks, Lin

HO'NEHE Jeff makes a pretty fine osage handled knife as well. In fact, I'm enjoying one right now. And a pretty good egg, too.

Awwww come on now Lin......he's being very, very  modest. I can highly recommend Lin's knives.  I own three and they are beautiful, scary sharp and hold an edge.  Matter of fact, for Lin's Master smith performance test I watched him chop a 2x4 in half 8 times, cut a 1" piece of rope with one swing several times and the knife still shaved hair.....without sharpening or stropping.

Not to knock any of the people listed they all make awesome knife and are why I started, but why not make one yourself.  You can find plenty of infomation on the here and other place on the net.  Warning it is addicting.  Only power tools I have are a dremal and a drill.  I use old files, that I heat treat in my wood stove.  Here are two I just finished.  These are the fifth and sixth knives I have made.
