Big storm headed our way.  Hoping to get out on Sunday after the storm has passed.  Hopefully, there will be a few blue-balled gobblers willing to take a risk after a couple days of hunkering down.

Our seasons opens April 15th.
Got home last night from work and heard gobbling coming from the woods behind the house. I grabbed my mouth call and hit the woods.
Had a good conversation going with some birds as I slipped along closing the gap hoping for a picture.
Turns out my neighbor is raising turkeys, ha ha.

Classic story!

As a teenager, my step dad & I spent half an hour creeping on our bellies toward some quiet, roosted gobblers that were oddly late in flying down for the morning.

Turns out it was a flock of turkey vultures.

Nothing like a turkey hanging over your shoulder on a fine spring morning. Congrats to all!!

Way to go Dave.  Getting it done twice with TT bows. Sweet!

Called in 2 hens two different times. Were within 10 yards of the blind both times. My wife goes with me and she calls them The Old Maids.

Next week, my friend, it's on!!  Weather has been hot and i'm starting to see strutters in the fields.

Also, just sent in my deposit for my Gould's hunt, Spring '18.  I'm getting pumped and hope everyone has a safe and exciting season!!

Forgot to mention, I used one of R.W. Mackey's calls (sponsor here) on the bird above and have called in a couple others so far this spring too.

I harvested a nice gobbler April 11 in Kansas. Only shot opportunity in four days of hunting. Real hens seemed to keep the boys away from the decoys...

Our season starts Monday. I just got permission on a farm I have always wanted to hunt. Walked out a road to a big field and there was 4 toms and a bunch of hens. I am the only one hunting on this farm. I've got goosebumps just thinking about it.

Nope! Still no action yet. Its good to see the pictures of the successful adventures.

Had a close call, though. Mother Nature called out to me at a time when I had no idea that a bird was close by. It is humiliating to be squatted peacefully in the woods and have a damn turkey fly up into a tree close by to check out the scene. It didn't take him but a couple of seconds to decide to move along, though. I'm not sure if this actually qualifies as a hunting encounter.

PA's season doesn't open till April 29, my dad's birthday. I'm planning to bring my 5 year old with me this season. I only have some burlap for a makeshift blind so I expect more bonding time than turkey time. But that's entirely worth it to me!!

I was so close today. Pulled the stalk off on 2 longbeards......and I missed...twice! The first shot was probably 17 yards and my string caught my binoculars when I shot, causing me to shoot wide left. Well I fumbled around and the birds gave me another shot. Well, I don't have any excuse on the 2nd one, I shot just under one of them at about 20 yards. Rough start to the season!
