After having to go to an adjoining county to shoot in the annual Senior Games, I decided that we ought to be doing it our Alsmance county. After just 3 or 4 calls it looks like it is going to happen. The county recreation people seemed happy that I was willing to help make it work. It's not a big deal, but just one of those little things to promote archery and make it available to more people. Anyone over 50 can participate and it's broken down by age and type of bow. Shooting is at 60, 50, and 40 yards.

Just wondered if anyone else is participating in these games? It's a different kind of archery, and it's fun. After the county championship in about April, there is a state championship about July. Also, I believe that there is a national every two years.

So, you will be shooting a 900 Round???

I did more than a few years ago now. Ours was at the Easton Oly field in Chula Vista, Ca. I shot my LB. we had maybe 50 shooters from San Diego/LA area. I remember having to wear a white shirt and Navy blue trousers or walking shorts.

I do not remember who supplied the metals that we got? i was not involved in the organizing of the event.
As for shooting I seem to remember a 300 round? I do recall shooting at 60 yards. I managed to keep them on the target. Not a big accomplishment as that round target is as big as a bus. Had a great time.

Sounds like fun, but I may be too young for this event, I'm only 68.5 years old.. Would I qualify as a senior? LOL

ChuckC I believe that most states would be doing this event. Here in NC I have participated in horseshoes, shot put, discus, archery, and others.

Roy, you are still just a young man. Your age group would probably be something like 67-70 yrs.
Last year there was a guy in his 80s who ran the 100 yd dash as fast as some high schoolers do. You won't see me in that event.

Bisch, I'm not sure about the 900 round. We shot several flights at 60 yds, then 50, and then 40 yds. I missed last year, and you know how us old folks are when it comes to memory.

Haven't participated in my state's event yet but I do plan on it this year or when the next one is.

Last year was a 900 round.

I'm 58 and still have a hard time thinking of myself as a senior, regardless of all the AARP junk mail in my box. Now, I've been an old fart for awhile, but that's more a character issue than age.    :saywhat:

Think I'm gonna try it this May here in Bull Shoals, AR. My understanding is that it's a 900 round.
