Well, I am sad and happy. My hunt was great at my good friends place in Freer, TX. Sad that it is over but happy to be home safe and had some success. The big boys did not want to play, had a nice 10 at 10 yards and a yote scared him off. Missed the yote at 30 yards. My friend wanted some spikes and 4 points taken out of the herd as they are increasing and I was happy to oblige and took a spike.

I hit him quartering away, he did a belly flop in a big cactus and pulled the arrow partially out. When he finally fell, he stabbed himself again with the arrow and it broke his back. Weird, huh.

My friends tracking dog found him and pulled some of his intestines out before we got to her. But all the meat was good.

Also took a very nice Tom Rio, hit him facing away and broke his back, did not go anywhere, 9 inch beard and 1.25 inch spurs, weighed 22 pounds. big for a Rio.

Anyway here are the pictures

Congratulations on a great hunt!

Not meaning any disrespect at all, but man them Texas and southern deer are tiny, even comparing that spike with our spikes. No wonder its so easy to blow through them. Amazes me what a few hundred miles sometimes does to certain animals stature.
