Yesterday, we had 50 and 60 mph wind, so not only was hunting no good, but I went out the evening before to take down a ground blind so that it wouldn't get destroyed by the wind.
This morning, I went out late in order to set the blind back up. Before I could get there, this buck was in the way. He is evidently a fighter, because he already has two tines knocked off. A pretty decent buck, but I will let him get bigger. He will be fun to watch, though.
After resetting the blind, I went for a little stroll to see what I could see. I'm glad I did. I got to watch this buck for about 10 minutes before he wandered off to another property. He most definitely has my complete attention!   He will make the next few days very interesting.

I have thought about this deer, and I think that if he presents a shot, he is going to get a pass. He is a great deer, but he doesn't have that Roman nose and big belly of an old timer. In another year, he will still be a hoss, but even better than this year, and will have another season to spread his genetics. Only one other guy and I hunt this property, and no hunting is allowed on the adjoining ground, so short of disease or accident, he should be around next year. I am probably getting ahead of myself, anyway, since I haven't seen him cozying up to me at 15 yards, but if he does, I'm gonna keep telling myself to let him have another year, and what a stud he will be then. If he shows up offering an easy shot, what a test of will power that will be.

Good luck with him either way you go. Just passed through Buffalo WY the other day on my way to SD for some pheasant hunting. Found a nice whitetail shed while chasing birds around.

For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.
