Congrats. Glad to see there are still deer in some parts of the state.

Paul....heading for the UP next week, so I feel your pain. Deer numbers up there are certainly slumping. On the bright side, I hear grouse numbers are high?

We are hunting a big (1200 acre) farm here in southern Michigan, our deer numbers seem to be climbing. I have the good fortune f hunting the thickest, least accessible part of this farm, which is fine with me. Of the 1220 acres, I focus on about 125 acres of it, all thick swamp. I don't go inside the swamp at all until after deer season is over. I have it surrounded with treestands, and am able to hunt a different one based on the wind, or other activity (like neighboring farmers cutting their crops). It's a pretty awesome spot.

Nowhere near the beauty of the UP, but it is a deer rich environment.    :)

Every hunter i've talked to is seeing less deer than last year. I thought that last season had to be rock bottom, looks like maybe not.

Not sure about grouse, I haven't been out yet. I'm in Iron county and we have had tons of rain this fall/late summer. The woods are the wettest i've seen in a long while. That has affect all hunting. Good luck to you and the rest at shrew haven.
