Is there a substitute wire that can be used on a Young Feather Burner that might be found locally?

I believe nichrome wire works and may be found at electrical supply shop.

Might work if you get the right diameter, but won't work as well.  Young wires are designed for burning and pretty cheap.

Used nichrome wire all the time. Worked great and spool was much cheaper.
