Any picks of that 193# field dressed doe? I would really like to see that.

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

I like it when people add "mule headed" between big ol' and doe.....for a big ol' mule headed doe

There are big does, little does, and in between. If it's being said to try and make up for it not being a buck then yeah, it's kind of silly. Having said that I did take one in KY several years back (rifle) that really was good sized and more fat than any deer I have taken or anyone with me has taken.....and I called her a big doe. Now; If it's 1.5 years or older I'm taking it when I'm out with traditional gear and I'll be very happy about it!

Them big old girls are the teachers......next time the buck you want to shoot outsmarts you....you can thank his Mama.
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

FlintNSteel, Another name for fawns is "meat deer".

if you can consistently harvest the "big mature does" then bucks are easy.........

My brother's first bow deer was a "Big Doe".

She ran 70 yards and lost a pound a yard!

That happens Bruce. I have had that happen. Antlers even do that.

KS has huge doe.  I think bucks are born with 4 points.  And doe are fat already when they are born.  Weve killed some doe that looked like they had horse heads.

To out wit a big mature doe is the same to me as outwitting a mature buck. A mother's survival instincts are a hard thing to beat. I have had a big Ole' mature doe give me up on more then one occasion while in the field. But I consider myself blessed to harvest a "big ole' wise nanny" and will not hesitate to take one.
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;

I see those really big does and all I see is great genetics, it's not just the bucks that pass on great genes. They get a pass from us, heck we haven't shot does for years on several of our places and the numbers are still dropping.

Used to be when they started giving out all those extra doe tags and saying got to thin the does, got to thin the does. Come opening morning of rifle and for the next few days the hills and valleys around here sound like a rifle range. The last few years not!!! Here a bang every now and then there just that thin.

So for us we pass for now and besides if you shoot a big buck you get lots and lots of meat!!!

The size of all deer, but especially does, is directly related to the amount of alcohol imbibed around the campfire just prior to telling the hunting story.

Well, I'm planning on getting a BIG OLE doe on opening day on the first of October!

Mr. fingers

I just missed a big doe this morning. Shot right over her back   :banghead:

Big doe. I had to call a buddy to help drag her. I couldn't hardly move her.

You didnt have to move her far.  Looks like she fell in your garage already gutted.  Nice!

I usually come up with the term big, medium or small during the drag.. if I struggle saying the words Big Doe,,, then its a pretty big doe trust me.

to be fair on myself in these parts I say 90+ is a Mature Doe, 120+ is a Decent sized Doe,,,, 150+ undressed is a Big Doe,,  200+ undressed is a Big Fat Ole Mama Queen of the Herd Doe...

...Yeah I'm one of those lol

As far as "Big Does" I prefer the term "Monster Doe" ...sounds funnier

This is my "monstah doe" she tipped the butcher scales at 122 field dressed with heart/lungs removed

Our "big does" weight rough 90/100lbs.
