You folks have fun and hunt safe......I'll be waiting for all the stories.
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Kenny, good luck to you MO boy's. Looking forward to hitting Misouri in November after chigger season. Still have some scars from my last encounter with the little demons

Bummer Charlie, Great Recap... Hopefully you get some meat for your family.

I was thinking you could set up like you were and have someone take a picture of your set up, it may show you what the does were seeing.

I had a  small buck come in one time and I was getting ready to shoot him.  he pegged me immediately so I took a picture to see what he may have saw.

This was his view

I looked like a giant turd next to a tree with intent to kill with my light saber.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

non-typical

Just this last week I'm seeing an explosion of scrape activity around the field edges, also noticing more bucks showing up again on the few trail cams I put out.

After having not been around for a great while, I enjoyed this first thread I have read. Good Luck all. We are expecting lows in the low 60s here for a change (guess that's why they make ice)   :bigsmyl:

Hey Mike, good to see you back!

I've been almost too busy to go, even in the cool weather@#$%%^

Did take my niece out in ghillie attire and had a bobcat with 2 kittens come up to about 25 yards, then turned in to the warm season grass and was gone. Pretty cool on the ground. She said she had never even seen one in the zoo, just the cage they were sposed to be in.

Then a small buck that tracked us in, and a doe at dark. Good hunt!!  :bigsmyl:

I haven't been able to get out much lately due to work, but I got a quick hunt in last night. It was a pleasant evening with the temp in the 60s and a nice breeze. Not 5 minutes after I sat down a fox squirrel decided he wanted to be in the tree with me. He was at about 3 feet away and ready to jump on me, but luckily my constant hand waving convinced him I wasn't stable enough to jump on. I wasn't expecting much for deer, since there aren't just too many behind my house. But I ended up seeing a very large mature doe and her twins. I had no intentions of shooting her, even if they would be came in range. They moved on and all I saw the rest of the evening was a opossum. It was still really nice and a good break from work. I'll be at it again this evening. Good luck everybody.

Yep, Jake , a slow hunt is waaaay better than work for sure!!  :biglaugh:

My work anyway, maybe not everybodies.

Definitely my work too. This evening is looking promising so far if this wind would stop swirling. I've seen 7 so far, but the wind keeps flip flopping and they are busting me. The downfalls of hunting along the Mississippi river.

Saw 13 turkeys last nite at 70 yards. Must have heard 25 more fly up in different spots.

I ended up seeing 10 deer last night, just nothing I wanted to shoot. All does and fawns except for one 2.5 year old 8 pointer.

OK, concrete is poured for the year(hope) , temps are sinking, I'm taking Thursday off, and maybe the next one too.

Somebody give us a blood trail!!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I was close to a bloodtrail Saturday night. I had a doe come in facing me at 25 yards and busted me when the wind made a slight swirl. The worst part was that I had a 4.5 year old buck walking straight to me to work a scrape under the tree I was in and he saw the doe and wouldn't come any closer. Fun times though.

I've been out a lot this year and was lucky enough to take one the first week but it's been tough since then.  I've had a lot at 25 yds but I like 20 better and 10 is prefered lol
Hot again today but things are looking up for the end of the week and the weekend.
Wondering if any of you other MO boys do the bowhunter survey w the MDC?  Ya basicly just check what ya see each evening on the form they send ya
