Best Small Hunting Pack

I am looking for some recommendations on small hunting packs. I have been hunting with a 15 yr old camel back mule for a long time and now need a little more storage.

I am doing a lot of walking on steep ground in thick scrub and really want something on the smaller side.  A day pack is to big.

Generally I put a bottle of water, small snack, a few spares in. I like to fit my binos in it to and have straps to strap some rattlers on.

The eberlestock packs like dagger and mini me look good, but don't seem to have the straps I am after.

I absolutely love my Tenzing 1200. I use it for turkey hunting and also used it as a daypack on a moose hunt last year.

First of all there is no best of anything... backpacks are tools you need to find the best one that fits the situation at hand ....I have several just like several bows and several broadheads all our tools.... just like screwdrivers 1 Screwdriver does not fit every screw

Look up Ribz.  Unlike a back pack all your necessary items are where you can get to them-and still wear a backpack for heavier items of tree stands.  I shoot with mine on easily.  We used to have  a similiar pack when flying OV10's and some guy made one that makes the grade for hunters...

I like Hill People Gear packs.  The Tarahumara  can do most things but I love my Umlindi for jobs such as you describe.

Take a look at Timber Hawk backpacks. I have 3 and each one is so darned handy and well designed.

I love my Rancho Safari.  Lots of pocket and its made out of fleece so its pretty quiet also. Made in the USA too.

I like my Badlands Diablo......but everybody has needs and preferences that they focus on. Hope you find something you like.

I'm still using my 30-year old rucksack. When empty it collapses and is light. I've carried a 60# chamois down the Alps in it.

I'm partial to Badlands.  Have a Super Day and Diablo, use the later for weekend hiking/hunting trips.

Terry nailed it, there is no best, one size doesn't fit all.

Like you, I like to hunt on the lighter side, after much time searching for what fit my style of hunting, I settled on a Nimrod Pack. The base model is great for light day trips, but it can be added to, and still in a lite way handle 3-4 day excursions into the back country.  Nimrod makes packs for forest fire fighters, as well as bowhunters, not the perfect pack, but one that is worth looking at!

I Like Badlands Day packs (Diablo, Ultra day, and super day).  Great packs for light loads.  Have a newer Bad lands 2200 that feels like a hang mans noose when it has a elk hind quarter in it. Very subjective subject.  Find a place you can try lots of different packs on.  Fit is everything.

I own several packs and what you described is covered by my Red Rock Outdoor Gear Rover Sling Pack. It holds couple bottles of water, snacks, emergency gear, small binos, knife, headlamp and maybe a light shirt. Dimensions are 11.5h x 8.5w x 5d. Great for half day or light day hunts.

I have one too.  Inexpensive and quite handy.  I love it for day hunts.

I had one and ended up offering it on St. Jude's auction.  It's a great roving type bag.  Great zippers and inexpensive too.
