well shot another doe last night with a howard hill head, found her today.  I must not be getting them as sharp as the i thought.  I didn't get a pass thru, which I did with Ace from the same bow.  On good note, Nate made me one great meat gathering stick.

That is a custom Miller Longbow. "The Hawk" model, 66", no glass, all bamboo, with a Myrtle riser and a gloss finish. With 8.5gpp it is silent!

mikebiz

The Miller "Hawk" is the concave/convex no glass model, correct?  How do you like the CC/CV compared to other flat lamination bows?  I'm hoping to order a CC/CV "Expedition" early next year.

Jesse, the good stuff Right? Mike, slightly stiffer draw in my opinion due to the Concave/Convex, quicker to me as well. And yes the Hawk is no glass CC/CV. Get in line they are popular bows.

EastTexasRedneck

Thanks Guys. I was really pleased with the way the bow came out. I knew that Craig and co. don't make ugly bows, but it surpassed my expectations. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Swampthing, that is a NICE bow.

swampthing

You know it Flint. Madake on through.  Yes it is stiffer, ridiculous to string, but once you got it, man it puts out an arrow. All the speed of a glass bow, but none of the glass induced thump.

flint kemper

I saw one with Tonkin he built as well. SWEET. Just like Howard built and shot. My dream bow.

swampthing

I can't imagine stringing Howard's 84# version! Not without "assistance."

flint kemper

I think after talking with David what Howard was trying to accomplish and he did it with Concave/Convex.

swampthing

His personal, laminated bamboo ones of course, bows had it. Glass or not.
Aside from the speed increase from the stiffer limb, I can feel that the bow wants to be pulled straight and true, kind of like the limbs force themselves straight. Much stiffer side to side. Talk about a stable limb. On an 84#er I know I would not be able to torque the string, not to mention draw it right now. ha ha

flint kemper

Yes you are correct. Alot more go into these bows than people know. They had it going on is  all I can say.

Nate Steen .

due to the thicker nature of the all natural limb, you have more torque resistence.  With the addition of fiberglass, you can go to a flatter limb, which isn't as torque-proof.  The old bows that had glass added to them had very thin glass, so the limb could remain thick....  that's one of the secrets of a thick, hill style bow.

flint kemper

Nate and the fact that it was woven glass and formed to the limb as well to go over the nodes not the flat stuff used now.

Red Tailed Hawk

Just when I think I might be getting reformed you guys have to post pics of amazingly beautiful bows.

Congrats on the new bows guy's. I know they shoot even better than they look.

That all bamboo and myrtle with the rust colored grip is fantastic looking. Depending on where the 'real' draw weight ends up on the Half Breed I've got on order I may well consider getting myself in line for one of those CC/CV beauties in the New Year.....

I have heard that David makes his own glass to add to the belly side of the CC/CV bows because the belly is not flat.  The whole process is very involved, thus Howard's reason for abandoning the technique for production bows.
