Well an interesting turn of events.  I ordered a Bear Montana a bow that I have had my eye on for a while.  I ordered 65# which is a missed weight bow for a discount from Big Jim.  Two days after ordering I get a call from Big Jim stating when he inspected the bow he found a crack in the glass.

First just let me say I am very grateful that Jim inspects the bows other wise I would have had to do warranty work as soon as I got the bow.  His offer was to send the bow directly to bear and no idea on turn around, or a refund.  I wanted option C because I still wanted a bear long bow...  I could not afford a Patriot or a Au Sable at the new price but maybe just maybe they had a missed weight in those.... The choices were Au Sables in 30 lbs or a Patriot in 40.... I went with the Patriot 40# thinking lighter tackle wouldn't be a bad thing.  We disconnected with the plan of a 40# patriot.

After finishing the conversation I was browsing his web page and noticed a Patriot missed weight in 65lbs the same weight I was trying to get the Montana in! I called back immediately and requested it.

The next day my bow shipped and sure enough it was the last Patriot 65lbs missed weight and here it is.

I am waiting on a string from Allen that will hopefully be here tomorrow and also waiting on a bow square from big jim as well so tomorrow I should be good to go.  I took it out to the back yard as soon as I got it and let it rip.  I didn't even see the flight from 10 yards the arrow was booking it so fast.  Can't wait for more.  Here are the pics.

Those are very good shooters.  I crossed paths with a kid that picked up a used one that came with 5 with really bad flying, old and over the hill, carbon arrows that did not match his draw and bow weight.  I thought I gave him some arrows with broad heads that flew better for him.  Turns out that after he shot a deer, his first, he brought my arrows back, including the one that flew through his deer.  I have made arrangements to make him some that will match his draw, at less grains per pound, when he settles into some stable form.

The patriot is an absolutely amazing bow. I've often thought about getting another one but I'm on my short bow kick right now.
Great find!!!

Yep seems to be great.  I wonder if Bear will ever improve the strings they ship them with...

Had a Patriot for many years, a very good shooting bow and much faster than the Montana too.  My son in law has it now, it is his primary bow and he loves it.

I tell you it is one of the prettiest bows I have seen and I got it new for an absolute steal.  Thanks again Big Jim!

Kudos to Big Jim!  Looks like a great bow!

I can't wait for new string to come so I can tune it up.

Seems like my arrows for the grizzly work well for it.

Dave, I should be starting it tonight.  I know you are anxious to get it.   :)
