Anyone got an opinion on Spitfire bows? Anyone owns one?

Well I have not had the chance to shoot one but did talk to Chris and he is a great guy . very knowlegable and nice guy to talk with , and beautifull bows :0)

Pete Ward did a review on the Spitfire. I would suggest you look up Pete's website and even call him. I too have heard that Chris is a great guy to talk to. Pete's site is www.peteward.com. Pete told me he ws very plased with the little bow.

My new Spitfire Horsebow will be shipped to me on Monday, from Chris.

Sadly, I have no digital camera, or access to one, so I cannot post pictures.

Spitfire does have a website, where all interested can ask questions of both Chris, and his customers. (The bow I am getting is pictured on here under "Ugryian Syahs")

Haven't seen or heard of any problems with these bows, and Chris also mentors those whom acquire one of his bows, AND those who,while they may have not have purchased one of his bows, are interested in the use of the thumbring, in its traditional use in archery.

Chris is also trying to organize the production of a video/DVD of the use of the thumbring. Again, look up his website. (I would post it, but am unsure if that is allowed on this forum.)

When I looked at the site it looks like he uses his thumb to hold the string and his idex finger to hold his thumb.. I have seen thumb rings advertised, but have never seen one used...

When used correctly, the thumb ring works somewhat like a caliper release. Very small contact point on the string, so the string is released very cleanly, with little to no roll imparted, as fingers can do.
Much less chance of pulling or pushing string off the centre line of the bow, therefore one gets a cleaner release.
Now, I just have to learn how to use the ring correctly, myself.

Spitfire bows are a whole new world of shooting.
The thumb ring takes a lot of patience to learn, but then it is not to bad. Chris is a great help with this.
His bows are not at all like what we are used to. Very light, well made, and after you learn the ring good shooters. They are quiet, with no shock at all. I like the one I have and still take it out , but I don't feel confident enough to hunt with it yet, but it is great fun to shoot.
Stringing it is a new experience, make sure you get instructions, then it is easy.
