It's hard to believe, but I've owned and been shooting a 62", 45#@28" Morrison Cheyenne with Max 1 carbon/foam limbs for 2 years.  It is the sweetest shooting stickbow I've owned. In 15+ years of shooting stickbows, I've bought, sold and/or traded 250+ recurves and longbows. The only one I've owned for anywhere near a year is the Morrison Cheyenne.

I agree Bill. Smoothest drawing, best shooting recurve I've ever had as well. Love my Cheyenne with foam/carbon limbs.

I'm proud of you.  I'm still working toward that goal, longest I've gone so far is 1 year on my Elkheart.  I will likely go past 2 years with another of Gregg's bows, my coming Rose Oak, or a Bob Lee.  Keep it up.  The man with one bow is deadly.

So, that's why the bow classifieds have been a little slow the last couple of years.

I envy your finding a bow like that. I can not even shoot the same bow two weeks in a row. Then again I do stick to one bow around hunting season. This year it will be late season for me.

That combo sounds like it's got the limbs that I sold you, so doesn't that make me eligible for some kind of royalties or something, lol? And naturally right after that was when Bob decided to quit making his own limbs! Unless you want to "fall off that wagon" don't start messing around with Bob's ILF risers! He made me a gorgeous B&W ebony/phenolic that's got Border Hex 6's and I'm already obsessed with what the next one will wear.

When you find the right one it's pretty cool. I did change to lighter set of limbs this year but have been shooting a dryad Orion for about two years now with longbow limbs of some type, guess I'm on my third different pair of limbs, still have the last set, just bought a little lighter draw pair this year.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

Ok, I must have been out of the loop for awhile as far as Morrison bows go.   He doesn't make his own limbs anymore?   Who does?  And is the Cheyenne and all the other models still available?

Burnsie,

The limbs are built by Border Archery in Scotland.  At present, Bob only offers wood and metal ILF risers and ILF limbs.  He has some Shawnee and Cheyenne  bows in stock, but I don't think he's building them anymore.  He's working on offering the limbs built by Border for the  Cheyenne and perchance the Shawnee.

I'm glad to hear that you found a bow that you get along with so well. It's a beautiful thing.

Don't tell anybody else here, but I own one bow. I haven't even shot another in four years, and don't care if I do.

Some outrageous Dr. bills keep my archery purchases down to the bare necessities, but my owning one bow isn't about that.

I too, found a bow that fits me like my old Bear glove. It shoots very well for me. Better than bows I've owned in the past, that cost me quite a bit more money.

We've become good friends, and put a fair amount of meat in the freezer over the past four years, and I don't see myself hunting with anything else, any time soon.

Richard,

Yes sir, they are the same Max 1 limbs you sold me.  Border is building Bob's limbs for him now.  He now offers Max 2 and Max 3 limbs as well as the Max 1s.  He's working on designing wedges to enable the limbs to fit his Cheyenne riser as well as his ILF risers.

I don't know about it making you eligible for royalties, but I will say you are royalty for selling the limbs to me!    :)

With tiny deviations I have been shooting a 50#ACS CX 64" LB for 5 years. Before that it was a 50# ACS CX 62" for 5 years. All my other bows just occupy pegs on the wall.

It is nice once you finally find "The One". I went thru a bunch of bows till 2009, when I got my first Sarrels Blueridge longbow. I have only gotten 2 bows since then; 1 was Hope from 2011-2012, the other was a brand new Blueridge in the exact same specs as my previous one. I just felt like I needed a new bow!!

Awesome, congrats!

I have stuck to the two bows in my signature since I got into traditional archery in 2006.  I just got lucky I guess!  I think they're the king and queen over the many bows I've tried out at shows and on test drives.

If I get another, it will be because I like one other bow (the Cari-bow Silver Fox longbow) quite a bit, but it will not replace or force out either of the two I already have.

I feel fortunate in that the bows I now have feel like an extension of myself, rather than a tool in my hands.

250+ Are you kidding me? I don't feel so bad now. The ones I do have, which is ten at present, I like. Haven't actually deemed one as my favorite. Just hoping I have enough time left to sample some of the other bows I've seen recommended on this site. So many bows, so little time couldn't be truer in my case. Fortunately for me, living in Jersey, I have the opportunity to take an unlimited number of doe throughout the year so will be able to take out different bows periodically. Need to know which ones are the "lucky" ones.

WildmanSC I'm looking into a new bow and the one you just mentioned is one of the two I'm looking at. The other is a tall tines. Too much fun!

Bill,

250+,not bad, I am over 350 over the years but all I shoot now is Schafer Silvertips, got 4 on the rack, one longbow, Cari-Bow Silver Fox. Bob makes a nice bow, have owned several of his Cheyenne and Shawnees and his ILF recurves as well as the Dakota longbow he used to make.

I took delivery of my 62", 55@28 ACS in June of '09. It is still my go-to bow. I have 12-15 other bows but hunting season finds the ACS in my hands.

Gee Bill... Could it be, you're getting..... "Old" LMAO   :biglaugh:

Sometimes we look back and think... "Life is GOOD!!!" We look around, and we're content with what we have...

This year, I bought the Bear Kodiak T/D that I have wanted all my life... It will be the last "new bow" I'll ever buy. It'll also probly be the only bow I'll hunt with from now on..... (Unless I decide to break out one of my old Grizzlys, just because...)
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!
