Many thanks gentlemen. I wish all of you could see and experience the anticipation of late summer in Alaska. My wife and I are still enjoying a vacation here, now settled into a nice private residence outside Fairbanks. Every day is a collage of float-planes, pretty skies, tall spruce, busy people and so much more.  It's really a challenge to combine a vacation and hunt, but I think we've done a good job of it. I have to keep the hunter on hold just a few more days as we enjoy this special time. Meanwhile, my 2-pc bow rests quietly in the duffel bag waiting for its turn.

I talked to my pilot and a couple other friends yesterday. The report is good on caribou where I'm going. It's been a very mild year for bugs and the caribou are in excellent condition. Bears are actively hitting the berry fields. I should see some good animals out there.

Thanks again for the wishes. I'd like to send my best wishes to some other TG guys who will be heading this way later. Mike, John and several unnamed others....good hunts to all. KD

Just an FYI, this is a traditional bow hunting site. NOT a rifle hunting site. Please be careful with such discussions.

Well....the vacation part of this trip is just about complete. We spent a couple days down in Talkeetna and did a great flight into Denali with K2 Aviation. I can't describe what that's like: you just have to do it if you ever get the chance. Landing on a high glacier with a skis-equipped Otter and then getting out amidst all the jagged peaks produces a sensation of being out of body. Enough. Now it's time to hunt.

Weather is superb for now. Caribou are just where they should be. No other hunters anywhere close to my drop point. Gear is ready. I'm first out tomorrow morning in the plane. Ready for it, too. I'm going through the mental adjustment of ending vacation and saying goodbye to my wife who heads home...I will really miss her...as my thoughts turn to big caribou and maybe a black bear.

See you on the other side of this. Thanks.

Good luck Kevin, may your arrow find it's mark.

Tina and my son Zach and I leave on the 20th of Sept. and fly back on 2 Oct.
We will be hunting moose.
