Al, just curious as to why you prefer the old style heads? My impression was that the new style has the same cutting surface with an improved ferrule.

Thought the black ones were Woodsman Elites, not VPAs?

The early VPA's were all black.  The colors were added later to reference weight.  All of my VPA's are early ones, I have to weigh them to tell the difference.  Great broadheads still.

Al, a little black paint might work if it will stick to the original finish.  Wish i could help you out, but mine are all glue ons.

I didn't know of the VPA design change. Anyone have side by side pix of new and old?

From what I understnd the older ones were a bit longer and a tad wider at the ferrel... All of which I'm after.

The older ones are slightly longer but the new ones have an improved heavier     ferrule section. The black one is the original. The longer threaded section made them more susceptible to bending.
