I had a buddy come over with his new compound the other day and we started shooting. I had my trusty longbow and we started at about 20 yds. and worked back to about 50. About every 3rd shot or so he had to make an adjustment because gadjets started comming loose on his bow and by the time we were done he pretty much had to start over sighting and tuning his bow in. I just had to smile and say that's one reason I went to traditional.  :laughing:

Yeah I get that but don't believe everything we say on how simple traditional is either...just search threads for

*  arrow tuning
*  carbon versus wood
*  beveled broad heads or not
*  two blades vs. three blades
*  how to achieve EFOC
*  big fletch, small fletch, 3 fetch, 4 (sounds like the start of a Dr. Seuss book hey :-) )
*  gloves vs. tabs
*  three under or split finger
* ?

Gadgets by a different name maybe?

I shot a compound for about 13 years and traditional for about the same now...I know I tinker more now than then.

Enjoy shooting with your friend.

I'm not saying you can't make traditional technical. I shot compound for 15 years before I went with a longbow in the beginning of 2000, but once you get the arrows tuned to your bow, and your string settles in, you don't have to worry about sights comming loose, cam lean, cam timing, rest moving, peap sight moving and a host of other things that can come loose or change.

My good buddy is a compound shooter and he has to screw with his bow at every shoot. I like the traditional stuff because once I find the setup I like, that's it. If my bow isn't shooting well, there is a 99% chance it's me.
