It has been awhile since I have posted, lost my job, sold my collection and now I am back!I just bought a K-Mag in factory camo and don't really like  the looks. My question is should I leave it the way it is (serial #9u994) or see the nice wood hiding under it?Is it a rare item or pretty common?I picked it up for $50.00.

This is a 68:

I'm glad I stripped mine. You can always spray some nasty paint back on it. I don't think they are much for collector value. There are a lot of them around IMO. But I am no Bear expert.

cmh-Thank's for the offer but I haven't shot it yet.Steve o-Thank you for the response,I love the look of that wood on your's.What did you use to strip it?

I'd leave it on.  Course I've got my eye out for 69 factory camo Grizzly....

liv'nonaprayer

Yeah,I think I will shoot it some and then decide to keep it or not.My "go to bow" is a Browning Wasp and I like it but for the price on the K-Mag I couldn't leave it there!

K-Mags are fun too shoot! I've always wanted one, and finally bought one, a 1970.

I had a 67, which I removed the paint. I was torn before and was still torn after.  I loved it the way it was both ways.

Relax,

Well,I was removing some glue left on the riser and the paint came off with it.I removed the rest of the paint and finished it with poly!It is a much nicer looking bow now.The only not so nice part is I left a slight amount of paint around the logos but since the glass is green it is not too ugly.If I was going to hunt with it the camo would stay.Thank's for the response,Bill.

I had a 69 Kodiak that was factory camo plus some home touch up work someone did.I'm not fond of the camo bows so I stripped the one I had and it was beautiful Tiger wood underneath that nasty paint!

liv'nonaprayer

I am glad I took the paint off,the wood is nice looking. The old saying goes"form follows function"and for me that is true most of the time, but with a beautiful wood bow you get both! Bill.

Glad you like it  :)  I was most interested in it as it's my birth year so.... Just one of those odd wants and it was a Bear of course  ;)  Good shooting and happy hunting!!

I'd have taken the paint off as well. Those were not exactly the greatest camo jobs. The wood underneath looks a whole lot nicer.
