Mountain State Archer

Looking at buying a small broadhead target for tuning and practice with my hunting heads before I sharpen them.  Any suggestions?

Thanks
AJ

I have been getting Styrofoam blocks from Tractor Supply.  They work great, free, and disposable.

I have the Rinehart Block. Expensive but seems like it will last a LONG time.   Bill

I'm getting tired of cleaning up shredded foam out in the yard so I think I'm gonna spring for the 18 X 18 Blob target. $90 TYD aint bad compared to a lot of other targets and it should last a good while. And be a lot less messy!

I am on my second Morell Yellow Jacket.  Once it starts to loose bits of the foam layers, I give it an injection of the spray foam insulation in a can.  Just don't over do it as it will bulge the target as it expands and sets.

Shoot as much weight as you can with accuracy

You can spray foam fill a medium pizza box if you want cheap and limited shooting.  Just put something heavy on the flat top to keep it flat while the foam is expanding.  Can be done for less than $5 for the foam.  Fill about 1/2 full and them let it expand.  duct tape all sides closed except the little tab area that you use to fill the box.

You won't be sorry. The blob is great. Heavy. But should last a long time.

I'm about to pick up the Block Youth target. It's small, cheap, portable, and light.  I only plan to shoot the broadheads when tuning and for a few shots each season.  No need for anything fancy.

I think Ive had most all of them and I have to say nothing beats a Rinehart.
The reality is, by nature of the broahead,  anything BUT a pile of sand, is going to eventually get cut to chunks.....unfortunately with the price of targets,  this is unavoidable.  The Rineharts,  despite getting cut up pretty darn good,  still manage to stop the arrow nicely.  I have a Rinehart "18 in 1" that Ive been sending broadheads into for over 3 years now and Im still very impressed with how that type of foam they use,  stops the arrows.  Being a target that really is like 18 targets in one, you have many angles to shoot at to prolong the targets life or should I say you having to get another target because you can see thru a hole in the middle.  If I want my moneys worth,  I buy Rineharts.

Big Jim has the Rinehart 18-1 blemished targets. They are a great deal. I ended up ordering two of them, because they were so much cheaper than regular price. Once I figure out that my broadheads are flying and hitting the same as my field tips, I don't keep shooting them into the target.

I shoot wood and that makes me fussy about BH's. This one works well.

I shoot my hunting broadheads a couple of times into my Rinehart target to put that last bit of edge on them...that says something about the material in those targets...well worth the money for me

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

If I lived in the country I'd get a load of clean sand and make a pit target to shoot broadheads into. I don't live in the country anymore so I just but whatever is cheapest and also I have the center section of a busted McKenzie elk 3d target that I use also.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

BigJim

The 18-1 Rinehart is unbeatable by any of them...unless you happen to find them as blemished discounts...guess who has those in stock?

BigJim does
