I am shooting a 29" gt trad with a 50 grain brass insert and 150 grain point. If I was to start shooting woodies, what would be a comparable arrow. I draw 27" and shoot around 50lbs at my draw.

I am using Douglas fir shafts from Sureeood Shafts.  They came real straight and spine groups are great.  You would probably need 55-60 shafts and can cut them down as needed.  Surewood sells a test kit in different spine weights so you can figure out what works best for your set up.

When I had my 51# @28"  56" Shrew Classic Hunter and I drew a little over 27 ", Ron L.  set  me up with Sitka Spruce 62 to 63 # spined  arrows by Paul Jalon.

Please note tho I was using 160 grain STOS two blade broad heads on them. I think length is about twenty eight and three quarter inches.

If you want to try one I would send one to you to try.  Might even sell the set as my draw length has lengthened a bit. If you liked them.  Guess it depends on how heavy a head you want to use.  They did fly nice.

What weight points do you want to shoot with the woods?

pghrich

hello, try some p.o.c. 55/60 cut to 28 1/2" to b.o.p. with 145 grains up front, should weight in at around 500 grains plus, start out a little longer just in case but you will probably end up where i said, rich pyle

thanks fellas,

Id like to shoot 145 grain heads so that helps a lot!

Are you shooting a LB or recurve.

Keep in mind too that 3 Rivers and others sell test kits of wood arrows so you can try a range of different sppines

You said you shoot GT Traditionals but you don't mention which spine.  We will need to know that if you are going to match the weight of the GT arrows.

Sounds to me like you'd wind up at around 60" dynamic spine.
Either 55/60's or 60/65's could get you there, depending on the length.

What bow and how is the shelf cut? How much point weight did you want to shoot? Just need a little more info.

Ask the fletcher and he'll be able to tell you what will work.  ;-)
