Hi bros,

I've got some limbcracks on one of my 3-pce bows. Lenghtwise, close to the riser. I want to repair them and I know that loctite 420 is a good glue for it.
But I am having a hard time finding it over here (The Netherlands).
However, I DID find this ZAP CA glue, it seems it is also very very thin. But I hesitate using this. It is a lot cheaper then Loctite 420. Anybody has experience with this glue?
What is a good work around and how do I apply  it?

Thanks.

I can't tell you if it's a good glue, but a trick I learned was to use a syringe, and tape the clack to just leave a bleed out port and an injection point.  You can force the glue into the crack till it comes out the bleed port and insure the crack has been saturated.

Thanks Bruce!I have no experience but this sure all makes sense. Love the tape part!

The Zap glues have a good reputation in the modelling (planes, cars, etc) community and so would seem to be a good quality glue. I used some at one time and found the viscosity to be about the same Loctite 401. Loctite 420 has a much lower viscosity and so should be better for wicking into cracks. Haven't tried the 420 myself though.

Did you use the THIN CA from ZAP?

I also tape the back side of the crack to keep the glue from running thru. The viscosity of locktite 420 is 2. Personally I don't think there is much difference in CA glue, it all seems to hold good and any thin superglue will run and fill a crack. On some repairs a thicker glue works better.

The zap a gap glues are great glues. I've never used them to repair a crack on a bow but they work for just about everything else.
