Rivers Edge tree seat

I've tinkered with the thought of getting a tree seat.  I've searched on here, but didn't find too much about this one, anyone have any input, thoughts, or complaints?  I'm interested in this and the hammock I've seen mentioned as well.  Thanks in advance for any help.

It is a great seat ! Lightweight and quick set up. Can be set at any height and swivels very quietly. It is pretty comfortable, but an extra pad would help on long sits. I have a hammock seat that is alright but I definetly prefer the swiveling tree seat.  For me it is one of the best choices in tree seats. Cheer SS

Thanks, the plywood and rope did not work out for me this past season. Numb butt and sliding of the seat and rope busted me   :eek:

I think that ground hunters seat that big jim sells looks good.
Ive used a lot of different seats. 3-legged stools, buckets, folders , etc.
Always have issues with the ground around the tree, roots etc.
The ground hunters seat leans against the tree allowing you legs to move free.
Ive not used one yet, but I think Ill get one before fall of 2015.

We carry the millennium tree seat too..when they are in stock.

Mostly I prefer the ground hunter seat as it is very light and portable...easy to modify too if you feel the need. After all, we are not all built the same.

I will say though that I have discarded all my old tree stands and have replaced them with milleniums. Owning a millennium means all day comfort!

I used this seat last year a couple times that belonged to a friend of mine.  Very comfortable seat but it is to big of a profile for me. I want to be tight to the tree.  Plus during testing I found the straps get in the way on side shots.

Now as far as a tree stand as B Jim said they are one of the most comfortable out there.

Thanks everyone, I think I'm looking more for along the lines of the Rivers Edge one but the cabelas one is interesting, I'd like it to be lite in weight, easy to pack and transport, and quick to setup.  I'm thinking of something for turkey hunting mainly, throw up a screen of burlap or something to block in front and not have to be kneeling for long periods.

I don't see how the straps could get in the way. I'm a right handed shooter and the only strap to worry about is the one to the left. My bow is way out beyond the strap when I shoot from my seat. The string doesn't make contact either. I'm a two hundred pound guy and the seat is just large enough for my butt. You have to twist your body towards the direction of the shot.

I also have the one with three legs which swivels with the same strap setup. No problems with the straps at all.

I like the looks and possible ease of both the Rivers Edge, but since Silent Sniper posted that link of the Big Game Swivel Seat, so far its got the wheels turning.  Having the seat swivel might be really nice instead if trying to shuffle into a position.

I checked out Big Jim's site for his seats, no doubt more comfortable, but a bit bigger then I want to haul.  The ground stick seat looks interesting.  Guess I got to sit and figure a bit more.

I really like the swiveling seat. I hunted for a long time with a non swiveling seat and I will always prefer the freedom and ease of movement of a swiveling seat. Instead of trying to move your whole body to shoot, you simply silently swivel until you have your shot opportunity.  It really helps and I also no longer have a cramped neck from twisting around to look behind me.

No single chair is going to be a cure all but for certain situations the swivel tree seat really shines. When you need easy transport, quick set up, and a large angle of shooting opportunities; the swivel seat does really well.  And for $40 you don't have a whole lot to loose.  I can tell you I will be packing mine this upcoming turkey season. I have one of these. They are nice but they seem to angle downward after you sit on them

I haven't used either seat, but I just purchased the hammock seat. I bought it for turkey hunting this spring. I haven't had the opportunity to try it out yet, but the reviews I have seen on tradgang where good. Going for my first archery turkey. Good luck on your search, and your turkey season.

The swivel seat is 5-6 pounds.  It's not the lightest seat out there.   Also a small ratchet strap on the top side of the frame will keep the chair from shifting downward on you.  That is a must have as a sagging seat will drive you crazy.  Like anything else it's not perfect but it works well. SS

Dean torges seat is a versatile as it gets. Make it any size you need too, to fit your behind, add 2" foam pad, which you can get almost any big box store. Walla , light, set any height, use any size tree, set angle of seat to any you find comfortable, adjust easily. i could go on and on

sometimes simple is just better.
