Posting question to see if I'm way off base on choosing arrows.  I have been shooting Heratage 250s cut at 29 inches with 200 grain tips.  These shoot well with my 54# recurve and 55# longbow.  I attempting to quiet the recurve I tried some left over Heratage 350s cut at 31 inches with 250 up front.  These actually shot well with a bare shaft, though a hair stiff.  The bow is a little quieter as the arrows weigh 670 grains.  The 250s weigh about 560 grains.  The questions are: 1. Is it feasible to shoot this stiff of an arrow in a 54 lb bow? 2.  Are these arrows getting too long?  3.  The selection of field tips and broadheads is getting smaller with this weight up front making me think I'm getting way off base.  Thank you

The me Length dosent matter as long as they shoot right, you can get up to 300 up front with several glue in head combos to work the spine. Im shooting 300gr broadheads and points myself with 100gr inserts. My buffalo likes atleast 11.5 gpp to be quiet.

I seriously recommend a SBD 8-strand string with the padded loops and here's why,,,,, it will quiet your recurve I'm betting 30% more with string and padded loops alone!  but by adding the skinny string it weakens the spines of the arrows that previously shot perfect,,,, so going back to those 350's you tried that where a little stiff this string should fix that right there.

spend 30 bucks first and get the string before you buy more arrows I think you will be impressed.

I agree on the string change.

Length never matters to me. Whatever tunes right. I'm shooting Mfx 340's off my 55# longbow. 30-3/4"( I think) with a 75 grain insert and 250 grain heads.

I shoot 350's out of 50# longbow arrows are 29 3/4 with and 250grs up front using a 10 strand bearpaw whisper string. They fly very well out of my setup.

So how much selection of field tips and broadheads do you think you need...I shoot VPA broadheads that weight and cannot think that I would need anything else

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

You can always get some heavier brass inserts also to reduce your head weights to give you more options.

Thank you all for the knowledge.  I'm going to take a look at these strings
