Kevin that bucket Idea is just sick!  I don't know if I could pull off the tote on the bush plane, we are limited to 55 pounds and cant get a gear drop but. I bet I could at least bring the bucket! That would really help carrying water and for sealing in food, etc. You need to just keep on writing Ideas because they are all good ones!

Also for what its worth. I take may bows and arrows along as checked luggage. I use a small plastic container to stuff the arrows and a wool (asbell) takedown case. Last fall I was able to fit in a riser and two sets of limbs , plus stringer, strings, ect. So I fly with what I need to hunt, apparel wise. This bag will be where you will want to stole away the bear pistol. Amazingly easy to fly with. Unloaded and locked with ammo in the original box. You can read that on all the airline websites. You can't fly with bear spray in any manner but you can get it up there. I am a pistol guy.Kevin has great experience and suggestions on bear protection. I keep my binos and camera with me in the carry on bag so I don't have to worry about thrown bags. There will be many details but that's most of the fun.

I meant stow it not stole it....One more thing. I will stuff a pack of dried fruit, jerky, ect. here and there as a place is available. These unplanned food sources come in handy when your stuck in a tent several days.

I'm going to be flying this fall and want to send gear out ahead of time. Some great stuff in this thread but I wanted to see if this is the kind of tote you guys are using?

If not what would you suggest and what size?

Yep that tote is similar to what I have used.

monterey

We used larger, but if it holds your gear that's all that matters.

I used large cardboard boxes with lots of shipping tape. 4" PVC pipe for bows, plastic arrow case for arrows.
