S.C. Hunter

Hi,just looking for some suggestion. My draw length is 29.5". prefer bows around 62" possibly even shorter. Currently shooting a 66" good shooter but prefer a shorter bow. The current bow is a Robertson primal stick 66" 56#@28 so I'm around 60#. looking to go lighter.

Appreciate any suggestions you may have for a shorter bow at my draw length. I am looking to stay with the longbow or hybrid but open to recurve suggestions as well. Thanks!

If you would like 62" or maybe alittle shorter with a 29.5" draw I would look at a forward handle bow like a Super Shrew,Kanati,Hoots or similar.

Take a look at Timberghost TD  56" static recurve or 58"/60" hybrid bows.

Bigfoot hybrid or static recurve(ss) exceptional performers. I also draw 29.5" and the 60" work well without finger pinch or stack.
shoot straight shoot often

Bodnik slick stick. I just acquired one and overdrawing to about 30 I feel no stack. Pete ward wrote a review where he let guys with actual long draws like yours shoot his slick stick and they did not notice any stack either. It's available in 58" or 60" in a while range of #s this is a R/D longbow
I'd rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6

Some good info here. A lot of good recommendations too. Best thing I can tell you S.C. Hunter look at the Bowyers here. See what you like as far as bows.  See exactly what the Bowyer recommends at your draw length in his bow. Everyone is different. The Primal Styk is a great bow by the way. Hybrids might be for you if you want to go shorter like Folks recommend here. Your other choice is a recurve.

Orion

If you want a shorter bow, a hybrid is the way to go, as most have already suggested.  Most hybrids have a lot of reflex coming off the riser, yielding the same effect as a forward riser bow.  A 29 1/2-inch draw is too long for mild r/d bow like a Robertson in a 62-inch length, IMO.  The bow will handle it, but it won't be as comfortable to shoot.

Talk to Dan Toelke, his Whip d/r longbows possibly at 60" and certainly at 62" can easily accommodate a 29 1/2" draw length. In recurves he has some considerably shorter that will.

A 62" Dark Matter Centaur may be a viable option worth investigating.

If my mind serves me well, the 62"r has max draw length recomendation far beyond your 29.5" draw length.

Best of luck in your quest!

I have a 30 inch draw and shoot a 52 inch Kodiak Magnum recurve...you need to try a bunch of bows and make up your own mind what works for you...before I shot a KMag (not the one I bought) I would never have believed I would like a bow that short...I also have a 58 inch Beaver Creek d/r bow that is 58 inches and does not stack at all to 31 inches

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42
