I have an osage selfbow thats 47lbs at 28". I shoot 50 to 55lbs spine cedars out of my 50lb bamboo backed osage and they shoot like darts. When I shoot them out of my selfbow they shoot a foot to the left. Do I need to go up or down in my spine weight. my arrow is 29 1/2"

Down.  Generally, my bows shoot 5-10 less than their weight in spine.  So a 55# will shoot 45-50 spine.

I have had the same experience as John has. BTW Just for interest I chronoe'd my 48# selfbow against a 52# Hill style FG laminate bow (made by a very reputable bowyer) using the same arrows. The self bow was 4 fps faster and smoother and a lot more fun before and after the chrono.

Couple of things you can do. First, get both arrow passes the same on your bows and tune from there. Of course, that's if you're wanting to shoot both together. Personally I won't go down in spine, weaker spined arrows are just that........ weak. Instead, try going up on point weight. You're very close on spine as it is and using a heavier point and rear tapering should put you right on target IMO.

Biggest problem you face right now is probably shooting two bows with different arrow passes. -ART B
